On September 22-28, 2024, the President of the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary, Ivan Rusyn, was privileged to speak at the Fourth Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization “Let the Church Declare and Display Christ Together,” which was held in Incheon, South Korea.
This landmark event brought together more than 5000+ participants from all backgrounds and over 200 different countries and territories to discuss the gaps and opportunities in global mission.
The UETS President had the opportunity to address the audience. In his speech, he highlighted the war against Ukraine as an attempt to erase the nation’s identity, language, and culture. He emphasized the urgent need for a just peace and spoke about the vital role of the church in times of war.
He quoted Psalm 85:11 that had inspired the doctor Ivan Rusyn’s reflection: “Peace does not exist in isolation. Peace is bound to righteousness, and righteousness is inseparable from justice. Shalom cannot be achieved without justice.” He continued, “That is why in Ukraine, we pray for both justice and peace. We believe that one day, peace and truth will be embraced in Ukraine. A just peace will only be possible after victory.”
We are grateful to God for the opportunity for UETS to be part of such a significant event. It was a blessing to share our story and hopes, and to join in prayer with people from around the world, united in faith and trust in our great God.
