Facets of Calling: Women’s Conference at UETS

Discovering Purpose, Strength, and Faith in Challenging Times

This month, the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS) had the incredible privilege of hosting the “Facets of Calling” women’s conference on its Kyiv campus!

In an atmosphere of warmth, support, and deep reflection, this event was designed to inspire, strengthen faith, and open new horizons for women in ministry.

Empowering Women to Live Out Their God-Given Calling

Women from across Ukraine gathered to gain confidence in their calling, develop leadership skills rooted in biblical principles, and encourage one another through personal stories of faith.

They rediscovered that they can make a real difference — in their families, churches, and communities.

Throughout the conference, participants reflected on the biblical story of Esther — a powerful example of strength, wisdom, and faithfulness to one’s calling, even in the most uncertain times.

This story served as a central metaphor for exploring courage, responsibility, and divine purpose.

Women Leading in a Time of War and Transformation

It goes without saying that the war in Ukraine—a consequence of Russia’s aggression—has profoundly reshaped the roles of women in both church and society.

Many have stepped into leadership, humanitarian, and pastoral roles that were once predominantly male.

Whether serving on the front lines, leading ministries, or supporting displaced families, Ukrainian women have demonstrated extraordinary resilience and spiritual maturity.

This reality made our conversations at the conference especially relevant, as we explored what it means to embrace one’s calling amid crisis and transition.

Key Topics and Honest Conversations

The sessions and panel discussions focused on the daily realities that can cloud one’s sense of calling, offering practical and spiritual insights on:

  • women as a driving force in society;
  • balancing family, career, and ministry;
  • living out Christian values in business and leadership;
  • supporting women-led initiatives and community projects.

One of the most moving moments centered on finding hope after loss—how to rebuild and live with purpose even in seasons of pain.
Participants also reflected on answering God’s call in unexpected places—whether on the front lines or beside those walking through darkness.

Speakers Who Inspire

The “Facets of Calling” conference brought together theologians, entrepreneurs, ministers, and leaders whose experience and insight inspired courage and action:

  • Halyna Teslyuk – PhD in Theology, Associate Professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University, Doctoral Researcher at UC Berkeley and the Graduate Theological Union, USA.
  • Anna Gnatyshyna – Lecturer at Kyiv Theological Seminary, OneHope representative, and minister at Bible and Life Church in Kyiv.
  • Mariia Fedoranych – Minister at Church of Christ’s Transfiguration, co-founder of Svit Faith LLC, and director of Bordway LLC.
  • Diana Liushyna – Motivational speaker, volunteer, and wife of a fallen hero.
  • Olena Lahovska – Director of the Women’s Leadership Development Program at UETS, co-founder of the Superstar Ministry for the Elderly, and personal growth coach.

Moments of Transformation

These few days were transformational — a time of renewal, encouragement, and rediscovery.
They served as a powerful reminder that calling is not an abstract idea but a journey shaped by faith, courage, and God’s steadfast guidance.

And we believe — this conference is only the beginning of change: in hearts, in ministries, and in society.
