On December 2, Ukraine celebrated the International Day of Generosity, known globally as Giving Tuesday—a worldwide movement launched in 2012 as a response to the consumerism of Black Friday. Ukraine joined this initiative in 2018. Giving Tuesday aims to cultivate a culture of generosity rather than consumption and to draw public attention to charitable giving for meaningful causes.
At UETS, this day coincided with the session of the Applied Theology program. A special themed chapel service was held, where students and faculty reflected on building a national culture of sacrificial generosity, funding church ministries, and effective fundraising. As part of the event, a panel discussion on fundraising took place. The panel featured Ivan Rusyn, President of UETS; Daniel Kuchuryan, Acting Head of the Missiology Department; and Oleksandr Lavrynenko, Head of Partnership Development. The discussion was moderated by Olha Kondiuk, Head of the UETS Communication and Development Department. The speakers shared from their practical experience in fundraising to support ministry work, emphasizing personal responsibility and generosity, communication with partners, transparency and accountability, and wise stewardship.
On this day, students also held a collection for the Student Mutual Support Fund to help peers facing financial difficulties with tuition. Last year, eight students received assistance through this fund.
