UETS, represented by its President Ivan Rusyn, Academic Dean Valeriy Sekisov, and Head of the Theology Department Pavlo Shevchuk, took part in the General Assembly of the International Evangelical Theological Alliance, held in Lviv, Ukraine, on November 3–7, 2025.
The event brought together more than 40 Christian educational institutions and organizations from Ukraine, Central and Eastern Europe (including Poland, Austria, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Moldova), as well as from Great Britain and the United States.
The Alliance seeks to strengthen the community of evangelical theological institutions and Christian organizations through professional networking, quality assurance, and the promotion of theological research — all aimed at serving the Church and society across Europe, Central Asia, and beyond.
Reflecting on the gathering, UETS President Ivan Rusyn emphasized the importance of theological education in today’s context:
“Theological education is an important component of the Church’s mission. Someone once said that the seminary is a place where the Church thinks. Today, especially in the context of Ukraine, it is vital for us as church ministers to pray and reflect on how to fulfill God’s integral mission in our present circumstances. The ongoing war has changed the landscape forever. Sometimes it feels as though we have a suitcase full of answers to questions no one is asking. We are now facing an interesting and creative challenge which lies in further development of theological education.”
