UETS Continues Its Mission in Central Asia

Головна Блог UETS Continues Its Mission in Central Asia

In the face of the most devastating war in Europe since World War II, which continues to rage in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS) remains faithful to its educational mission in Central Asia, continuing to equip local church leaders for ministry in a challenging Muslim environment.

Training Church Leaders in Central Asia Amid the Ongoing War

For more than ten years, UETS has been running a satellite program in Kyrgyzstan. It began with a theology program for pastors and ministry leaders, later expanding to include a counseling program.

During the October study session, sixteen fourth-year counseling students from different regions of the country delved deeply into their final courses, raising thoughtful questions and engaging in meaningful discussions with their lecturers.

Unlike before the war, when UETS faculty regularly traveled to the region, teaching is now conducted online. We are grateful to our guest lecturers and friends from other countries who fill this gap by traveling to Kyrgyzstan, adding an essential offline component to the ongoing program.

Empowering Churches Through Healing, Resilience, and Faith

At the same time, the students also benefit from the wartime experience and expertise of UETS faculty, particularly in areas such as grief, trauma healing, and resilience.

The students completed the session with great enthusiasm and readiness to apply their new insights in ministry which is to strengthen the Church and bring healing and transformation to society across Central Asia.

We thank God for the religious freedom and opportunities for Christian education He has granted in Ukraine, and for the chance to support and equip our brothers and sisters in Christ in regions like Central Asia, where Christian education faces challenges. May they continue effectively fulfilling their mission of building God’s Kingdom in the region.
