Over the past couple of weeks Russia’s ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, combined with extremely low temperatures, have left Ukraine’s cities at the brink of survival.
Missile and drone strikes have targeted key energy facilities and damaged power plants, substations, and electricity networks, leaving Ukraine’s energy system operating at the edge of its capacity.
Major cities, including Odesa, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, and Kyiv were among the most affected. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of residents were left without electricity, water, and heating for extended periods of time.
These attacks caused numerous secondary emergencies, including failures in heating and water supply systems, disruptions to public transportation, and widespread breakdowns in essential services, with the rest of Ukraine suffering from blackouts and daily power outages.
UETS Continues It's Relief Ministry
In the midst of such severe conditions, UETS continues to carry out its relief ministry, helping the most vulnerable groups of people, in particular the elderly, people with disabilities, internally displaced people, the homeless, large families, and families who lost their breadwinners.
The primary focus of our relief team is serving hot meals in the seminary neighborhood, delivering fuel for power generators, firewood, and other critical supplies necessary for warmth, basic household needs, and emergency resilience.
Prayers Needed
With intense cold (temperatures dropping to around –4°F) returning at the beginning of February, we ask you to continue praying for Ukraine, especially for its most vulnerable people, as ongoing attacks, blackouts, and freezing temperatures place immense strain on communities across the country.
