Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School, Birmingham, Alabama, USA, marking an important step in strengthening international academic and ministerial cooperation.

The memorandum formalizes a shared commitment to collaboration in theological education and academic exchange. While not creating binding obligations, the agreement reflects a strong spirit of partnership, professional compatibility, and mutual respect between the two institutions.

“We’re grateful to God for enabling this strategic partnership with colleagues at UETS,” Beeson Dean Douglas A. Sweeney said. “We are working hard these days to internationalize Beeson Divinity School and the worldviews, horizons and ministry networks of our students, faculty and staff. Our friends in Kyiv not only stand in need of our friendship and support. They also have much to teach us about discipleship and ministry in the midst of great hardship and suffering.”

Under the MOU, UETS and Samford University have identified several potential areas of cooperation, including student exchange opportunities, faculty exchange programs, joint academic initiatives such as courses, conferences, symposia, lectures, and collaborative research, exchange of educational materials and scholarly publications.

The agreement also envisions ongoing dialogue between representatives of both institutions to develop specific projects, define funding arrangements, and evaluate new opportunities for collaboration as they emerge.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Rev. Dr. Ivan Rusyn, President of Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary, and Dr. Beck A. Taylor, President of Samford University. The agreement enters into force upon signature and will remain valid for five years, with the possibility of renewal by mutual consent

UETS views this partnership as a meaningful opportunity to deepen academic excellence, foster cross-cultural engagement, and expand global connections in service of theological education and Christian ministry. Further information about joint initiatives under this memorandum will be shared as specific programs and projects are developed.
