We are happy to share the news that UETS faculty member, Chair of The Department of Worship Studies, Denis Kondyuk, has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague (Evangelická teologická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy). We sincerely congratulate Denis Kondiuk on this joyful moment!
The entire seminary community celebrates this achievement as another step forward in building theological education in Ukraine. This event embodies UETS strategic vision: building a faculty of its own scholars with academic degrees, who are able to prepare ministers at the highest academic level.
Each defense like this brings the seminary one step closer to a goal it has been working towards in recent years — developing a full cycle of higher theological education, from bachelor’s and master’s levels through to the doctoral degree.
The practical side of this achievement is another possibility for licensing new academic programs, and with that comes more mission opportunities: training more ministers and expanding the impact of their ministry to reach more people with God’s Kingdom.
It’s worth noting that Denys Kondiuk is not only a professor and scholar, but also a church planter: together with his wife Olha, he planted a new church, continuing his ministry not only in the academic classroom but also serving the people of Kyiv.
We are deeply grateful to Scholar Leaders, and particularly to Taras Diatlyk, as well as to Mesa Global, for their ongoing support of Denys Kondiuk on his journey of academic growth. It is truly God’s blessing that partnerships within the international community allow Ukrainian theological education to continue to develop even in the most difficult of times.
Despite the war and all the challenges it brings for Ukraine, UETS continues to grow and serve the people of our country when its need for ministers is higher than ever. We thank God for the wisdom, strength, and opportunities He provides to continue pursuing the seminary’s mission.
